1. These Regulations are established in accordance with the Academic Regulations of National Tsing Hua University and the Regulations Governing Master's Degree Examinations of National Tsing Hua University.
2. Eligibility for admission, new student registration, and enrollment shall be governed by the admissions brochure for the relevant academic year, the University's admission and registration notices, and other applicable regulations.
3. Within one semester after enrollment, each student shall select a thesis advisor (at least one advisor must be either a full-time faculty member of the Master Program in Medical Informatics(MPMI), a jointly appointed faculty member holding the rank of Assistant Professor or above, or a researcher holding qualifications equivalent to Assistant Professor or above) and submit the Thesis Advisor Confirmation Form (Appendix I).
Students who wish to change their thesis advisor during the course of study shall complete the University's Application Form for Change of Thesis Advisor (Appendix II). Such a change shall become effective only upon approval by the original advisor, the new advisor, and the Program Director.

(2). Students must complete the online Academic Research Ethics Education course and pass the required assessment to obtain the certificate no later than the end of the second semester after enrollment.

5. The period of study for the master's program shall be a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years.
6. To qualify for graduation, students must complete a minimum of 24 credits (excluding thesis credits) within the prescribed period of study. Of these, at least 15 credits must be earned from courses offered by the College of Life Sciences and Medicine.
7. Credit Transfer: Credit transfer shall be governed by the University's regulations on credit transfer. Graduate students may transfer credits up to a maximum of two-thirds of the total credits required for graduation.
8. Degree Examination
(1). Thesis Progress Review: Students shall apply to the Program and pass a thesis progress review at least one semester prior to graduation. The review shall be conducted in the form of an oral presentation before at least two reviewers with expertise relevant to the thesis, invited by the thesis advisor.
(2). The Master’s degree oral examination committee shall consist of three to five members. The thesis advisor shall serve as an ex-officio committee member but may not act as the chair of the examination committee. The chair shall be elected by and from among the committee members present. At least one-half of the committee members (including the chair), excluding the thesis advisor, shall serve as oral examination committee members, and at least one member shall be an external examiner.
(3). The members of the thesis progress review panel and the oral examination committee shall be approved by the Program Director and reviewed to ensure that they meet the qualifications prescribed in Article 8 of the Degree Conferral Act.
(4). Students applying for the Master's degree examination shall submit the following documents to the Program at least two weeks prior to the scheduled oral examination: an official transcript of academic records, a thesis similarity report, one copy of the thesis draft, and one copy of the thesis abstract. Upon approval by the Program Director and verification by the Division of Registration, the Master's degree examination may proceed. The acceptable thesis similarity standard shall be determined by the Program Curriculum Committee.
(5). The chair of the oral examination committee shall be responsible for confirming that the thesis is relevant to the Program's academic discipline and that its content complies with academic and research ethics, including the legitimacy of data acquisition and use.
(6). Master's theses shall, in principle, be made publicly available. If a student applies to embargo the thesis for more than six months, the student shall submit an Application for Embargo of Thesis Publication together with supporting documents at the oral examination for review and signature by the oral examination committee members, subject to the approval of the Program Director.
9. Any matters not provided for in these Regulations shall be governed by applicable laws and regulations and the relevant regulations of National Tsing Hua University.
10. These Regulations shall take effect upon approval by the Program Meeting of the MPMI.
